Maryland State Police in La Plata are investigating a fatal crash that has left a 50-year-old Waldorf man dead.
Rescue crews responded to northbound Route 301 north of Substation Road in Waldorf on March 19 around 10:44 p.m. for report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Investigation revealed the pedestrian attempted to cross the northbound lanes of US Route 301 when he was struck by a 1992 Ford pick up truck. The driver of the pick up truck remained on the scene. There was no evidence of intoxication for the operator of the pick up truck.
The pedestrian was transported to Southern Maryland Hospital where he succumbed of his injuries. The pedestrian was identified as Christopher Shawn Sydnor of Waldorf.
