The St. Maryโ€™s Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Section conducted an investigation for several months into a man suspected to be selling controlled dangerous substances.

Police say several undercover operations were conducted and controlled dangerous substances were purchased from the suspect, Richard Leon Reed.

On Jan. 4, an undercover officer purchased crack cocaine from suspect Reed as additional officers waited for the sale to be completed. Once the sale was done, the remaining officers immediately took Reed into custody without incident.

Approximately $200 worth of cocaine and $40 worth of marijuana were involved in the transaction. Police also seized the suspectโ€™s cellular phone.

Reed was charged with Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

Police say other controlled dangerous substance violations occurred throughout the investigation and additional charges are pending a Stateโ€™s Attorney and Grand Jury review.
