Timothy Christian Wagner

UPDATE: LEONARDTOWN, Md. –  State’s Attorney Richard Fritz announces that on Friday, August 13, 2021, Timothy Christian Wagner of Callaway, Maryland was sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal execution style murder of his wife on February 2, 2020.

After prolonged mental evaluations, Wagner was found to be competent to stand trial and criminally responsible for his act of first-degree murder.

State’s Attorney Fritz would like to thank the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office for the quick apprehension of Wagner as he was attempting to flee to Virginia, as well as for the successful prosecution.

UPDATE: CALLAWAY, Md. — Timothy Wagner, 38 of Callaway, pled guilty to first-degree murder charges in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court late last month, after shooting his wife to death last year.

While attempting to enter a plea deal based on being unable to stand trial, a psychological evaluation found that he was capable of standing for the criminal charges.

In court documents, Wagner admitted that on Feb. 2, 2020, he took a shower and nap before finding his wife asleep on the couch. He would go on to remove a firearm from his bedroom and shoot her multiple times, including in the head.
Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office soon responded to the 20900 block of Jo Marie Way in Callaway, for the reported shooting.

Wagner had contacted emergency communications (911) and advised that he had killed his wife. Deputies responded to the scene and located the victim Felicia Renee Wagner, age 29. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

A preliminary investigation that evening determined Wagner shot the victim and fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement. Wagner was eventually located in Charles County shortly after the incident and was brought back to St. Mary’s County by deputies.

Wagner, who pleaded guilty on Feb. 22 of this year, is now waiting for the results of an investigation which will be used to figure out the scope of his punishment.
Court records reflect the intention of prosecuting Wagner with charges of life-imprisonment without parole.

This is a developing story. We will provide additional information as we receive it.
