PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – Today the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department (PFVFD) is celebrating a tremendous milestone. For the last 20 years our department has proudly responded to every single call we’ve been alerted to. We are officially considered “scratch free” for two decades.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Brian Ficke the last time PFVFD wasn’t able to get our apparatus out was on August 15, 1998 to St. Leonard for a dryer fire. Chief Ficke said, “Since that day we’ve made it our personal department goal never to let this happen, if we can help it. We are volunteers and recognize the chance could always there, but we’ve done the best we can to make it out the door.”

Chief Ficke adds, “On behalf of the entire leadership of this department we thank each and every one of our members enough for reaching this unbelievable milestone. History is made and we will celebrate.”
