I have written to the Maryland Attorney General’s office as well as the Public Service Commission regarding Mirant’s proposal for IMPORTED coal.
Since the coal would be imported from various South American countries, some of which are hostile towards the U.S., I am very concerned about the possibilty of biological and/or chemical agents (weapons) or other terrorist instruments being concealed on those barges.
I believe this issue should be brought to the attention of the Department of Homeland Security. It is essential that these barges be inspected BEFORE AND UPON ARRIVAL to the U.S.
I am surprised this hasn’t been addressed by our elected officials.
