Theft less Then $1,000.00 and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance

On November 4, 2012 deputies responded to a local business for a report of shoplifters in custody.ย  Upon arrival deputies met with the Loss Prevention Officer who had Jillian Dawn Winters, 28 of Leonardtown, Maryland and Crystal Dawn Major, 28 Leonardtown, Maryland in custody for theft.ย  Further investigation revealed Winters was also in possession of suspected marijuana. Crystal Major was charged with theft less than $1,000 and Winters was charged with theft less than $1,000 and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.ย

After following up on a story rotating throughout our Tri county area, on a site claiming Breaking News, I took some time to find real FACTS that should be equally shared! The above police report is in many measures, just wrong. Whatโ€™s more frustrating as a journalist, is that comments are being approved ย and publicly posted on the less than โ€œrealโ€ News site, based not on fact, not on proof, but simply on an incorrect, or letโ€™s say at the very least, a less specificย  police report, missing authentic information.

Speaking with three individual with crucial rolls in the investigation; the supervising Manager at Walmart on route 235 in California Maryland, who reviewed video, along with a detective at the St Maryโ€™s county division of police, and the lawyer Of Ms. Jillian Winters, who was wrongly charged, by all three accounts, of theft under 1,000 and possession of suspected marijuana, not actually on her person. While actually investigating, rather than simply running a flawed police report, I have learned that at this very moment Ms. Winters lawyer is submitting a motion in court for the police report to retracted and modified to state that Miss Winters, was accused and charged wrongly. That her only role in the situation was walking out of the store with the other young women charged. The video has been reviewed, the receipt for all purchase belonging to Ms. Winters have been accounted for. ย It was stated that โ€œalthough It was not proven her entire role in the events on November 4, 2012, she was guilty of leaving with a person who possessed stolen goods not the act of theft itself. It was also noted that the police report โ€œShould have worded it differently, because it was different.โ€

These approved comments are vicious and harmful and do not represent the best in the great residents of our county. Also after personally receiving several emails, from more than a few concerned viewers, not remotely related to either women charged in the report, stating that their more positive comments, and even those comments questioning the validity of the story on what weโ€™ll just call โ€œthe Not News Siteโ€ were not approved or posted equally. The question was โ€œ I donโ€™t understand who approves comments over there, but youโ€™d think they hated the girl personally”

Our goal is to give up to the minute
