At 4:52 p.m. Jan. 1, Ridge Volunteer Firefighters responded to a motorcycle crash in the woods in the area of 18410 Chestnut Street in St. James.

Pax River firefighters and rescue squads from Ridge and Lexington Park were also called out, after numerous callers told central dispatch a motorcycle accident occurred in the same area with one victim.

The first units on the scene confirmed a motorcycle on its side with one patient.

After administering patient care, EMS units called for a helicopter to transport the victim due to serious injuries.

Trooper 7 helicopter landed at the intersection of Park Pines Drive and Three Notch Road. The patient was flown to Prince George’s County Shock Trauma Unit with life threatening injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department.
