LEONARDTOWN, Md. — It’s not every day that you can get your photo taken with a member of KISS.

Gene Simmons’s virtual twin strolled around the Rockin’ First Friday event hosted by the Leonardtown Business Association on Aug. 5. Event-goers could participate in a costume contest with plenty of prizes to go around form businesses such as Leonardtown Vintage Market and The Good Earth Natural Foods Co.. 

Musicians Joe Parsons and The Lucky Few took the stage during the event to entertain guests with a rock n’ roll setlist. Many event-goers were lounging around the square, trying to hide from the sun that peeked out shortly after the rainstorms that afternoon.

Local author Bob Lackey set up shop at the Fenwick Street Used Books and Music to discuss his book, Leonardtown Memories, with attendees. 

With art gallery receptions and shopping deals to be had, Leonardtown added another reason to be in the downtown area once a month with this event.
