La Plata, MD.–A disease that has affected so many people is being challenged by a nationwide organization. Sagepoint Senior Living Services, located in La Plata and the Alzheimer’s Association are committed in the search for a cure against Alzheimer’s.

The event was held at the Richard R. Clark Senior Center, located in La Plata. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the largest organization in the nation to raise awareness and raise funds to fight this terrible disease.

This year The Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Charles County was able to raise nearly $60,000, and has nearly 500 walker’s participating.

“Team Sagepoint Memory Markers is very excited to participate in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. We hope this walk, and all the other walks around the nation, will help raise awareness for this disease and support further research in the hopes that one day there might be a cure,” said Kelsey Pearson who is the marketing coordinator at Sagepoint Senior Living Services.

The top fundraising teams from this year’s event are Handsome Dad ($10,565), Wood Warriors ($9,148), John Hanson Montessori School and Leilani Live ($2,680), Southern Maryland Chapter, TLOD ($2,680), and Colona’s for a Cure ($2,165).
