The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has issued a one-day waiver to St. Maryโs County Public Schools (SMCPS) due to classes scheduled to end on Monday, June 9.
As a result, Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano, has announced that the last day for students will now be Friday, June 6, and the last day for teachers will remain as Tuesday, June 10.ย Parents are reminded that the last two days of school (June 5 & 6) are half days.
June 4 will be a regular day of school with all AM and PM Prekindergarten students attending school on a normal schedule.ย June 4 will be the last day of school for PM Prekindergarten students.
June 5 will be an early dismissal day with AM Prekindergarten students attending school.ย PM Prekindergarten sessions will not be held on June 5.
June 6 will be an early dismissal day with AM Prekindergarten students attending school.ย PM Prekindergarten sessions will not be held on June 6.
The waiver is being recommended by MSDE to all school systems in the state whose last day of school falls on a Monday. This will assist SMCPS in its energy conservation efforts.
