Vehicle theft

WALDORF, Md. — A Capitol Heights man has been charged in a felony theft case months after allegedly fraudulently purchasing a luxury vehicle from a Waldorf dealership, according to court documents.

Tywan Jackson, 32, of Capitol Heights, was formally charged on April 15, 2026, after investigators linked him to the December 2, 2025, acquisition of a 2020 Infiniti Q50 from National Motors Inc. on Crain Highway. Court records indicate a criminal summons was issued in the case.

According to charging documents, the vehicle was initially reported missing during a dealership inventory review and entered into a national database as stolen. Investigators later determined the vehicle had been obtained through a fraudulent purchase rather than a traditional theft.

Authorities allege Jackson used his real identity during the transaction but provided fraudulent documentation to secure financing for the vehicle. The vehicle, valued at approximately $25,000, was later linked to Jackson during an investigation involving federal authorities.

Investigators with the FBI located Jackson in Washington, D.C., where he was taken into custody during the execution of a search warrant. The vehicle was also recovered during the operation.

According to court records, Jackson admitted to fraudulently purchasing the vehicle during questioning by investigators.

He has been charged with theft between $25,000 and $100,000.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 1, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
