St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s observed a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis in the St. George’s Hundred Subdivision of Great Mills on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at approximately 12:25 a.m..
The operator abruptly decelerated and paused for a moment before proceeding. The vehicle turned onto St. Elizabeth Court where Deputy Boyer temporarily lost view of the vehicle. A vehicle registration check revealed the motor vehicle tags were listed to 1996 Honda.
Deputy Boyer located the vehicle which was now parked in a parking space with the engine running and all occupants out of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Rayshawn Deontaye Douglas, 19 of Lexington Park.
Deputy Boyer was given consent to search the vehicle by Mr. Douglas. A search of the vehicle revealed a gray bag located on the front floor board. The officer opened the bag and detected a strong odor of marijuana. There were several empty sandwich bags and a silver “Chefmate” digital scale contained in the gray bag. The gray bag also contained suspected marijuana residue.
Rayshawn Douglas was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
