The Charles County Sheriff’s Office, La Plata Police Department and Maryland State Police joined forces May 24 from 6-9 p.m. to conduct a seatbelt checkpoint in the 900 block of Washington Avenue in La Plata.
The officers checked northbound and southbound motorists. The sheriff’s office issued 16 citations.
This seatbelt checkpoint is one of many that have been conducted as part of the Chiefs’ Challenge seatbelt safety awareness campaign.
