At approximately 2.30 p.m. Monday a car ripped through a utility pole as it crashed on the side of Route 5 in Ridge. The vehicle completely removed a section of the pole, which was left hanging from the wires.
The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle, and, according to Ridge Volunteer Fire Department responders on the scene, he was not seriously injured. “He wasn’t hurt too badly,”ย one Ridge firefighter told The Bay Net, “he had a few scrapes and scratches.
Police closed the section of Route 5 at Wynne Road while a SMECO team worked to restore the powerline.
