PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The BayNet has announced the winners of its Fantastic Fireworks Photo Contest, recognizing five photos that received the most reactions from readers during the Fourth of July holiday.

Communities across Southern Maryland gathered over the Fourth of July holiday weekend to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks displays, festivals and family gatherings. As colorful bursts lit up the night sky from waterfront parks to neighborhood celebrations, residents captured the patriotic displays on camera, preserving moments from one of the region’s most anticipated summer traditions.
