A teacher from Great Mills High School was placed on leave after his arrest Dec.4 on a prostitution charge. St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office set up a sting that detained five additional suspects.
Gordan Caleb Barge, 35, of Waldorf was placed on leave for his involvement with the prostitution sting.
According to court documents, “Barge arrived at the location and made contact with an undercover officer. The defendant agreed to pay an amount of U.S. currency in exchange for a sexual act.”
According to Kimberley Short, who is the public school superintendent’s executive administrative assistant, “The employee is on administrative leave. We (SMCPS) are working with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office on this issue.” Short also confirmed that Mr.Barge is a teacher (on leave) in the SMCPS system. According to the Great Mills High School web site, Barge was a career and technology teacher.
“The currency was exchanged, and the defendant was subsequently placed under arrest,” according to court documents.
Barge’s trial date has not been set yet. However, Barge faces a maximum jail sentence up to one year and or a maximum penalty of $500.

Leonardtown, MD – The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Division, assisted by the support team and patrol deputies, recently conducted an undercover operation with the intent of targeting websites that are frequently used to solicit prostitution in St. Mary’s County. Beyond the quality of life issues that are associated with prostitution, other serious criminal acts, such as human trafficking, sexual assault, drug distribution and robbery, are known to have a prostitution nexus.
Najja Monet Sellers, 19 of Anchorage, AK was arrested for solicitation of prostitution for agreeing to provide a sex act for money.
Quanika J Bell aka Ebony Richardson, 19 of Temple Hills, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution for agreeing to provide a sex act for money. As officers attempted to arrest her, she assaulted them when she began kicking them. She was also charged with assault second-degree.
Tiffani Amber Mguygen, 33 of Temple Hills was arrested for solicitation of prostitution for agreeing to provide a sex act for money.
Nikki Elizabeth Morgan, 21 of Temple Hills was arrested for solicitation of prostitution for agreeing to provide a sex act for money.
Gordan Caleb Barge, 35 of Waldorf, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution for paying for a sex act.
Human trafficking is a serious and real crime facing our community. An early indication from the arrests listed above is there may be a human trafficking nexus. All related reports and information will be forwarded to the Annapolis Office of the FBI for further examination and possible investigation.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, will hold a second Human Trafficking information awareness gathering on January 22th, 2016 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
