Anne Arundel County Police case

SEVERN, Md. — A woman struck and killed by a sport-utility vehicle Tuesday evening in Severn has been identified as 75-year-old Darlene Platt of Severn.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on Oct. 21, Anne Arundel County Police Western District officers and emergency personnel were dispatched to northbound Telegraph Road at Denson Drive for a reported crash involving a pedestrian and a Ford Bronco.

Police said preliminary information indicates the Bronco was traveling north in the No. 2 lane when Platt tried to cross eastbound from the median. The driver told officers he did not see her until she was directly in front of the vehicle. The SUV struck her and stopped nearby.

Fire personnel pronounced Platt dead at the scene. The driver, a 45-year-old man from Glen Burnie operating a 2022 Ford Bronco, reported no injuries. The department’s Traffic Safety Crash Reconstruction Team responded and is handling the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Section at 410-222-8573.
