The Maryland State Highway Administration has announced plans to begin resurfacing of the approaches to the Thomas Johnson Bridge beginning Wednesday Dec. 3 and ending Thursday Dec. 4. The aggressive pavement project is scheduled overnight for St. Maryยนs County side of the single lane bridge.
The project is planned to help improve safety and ride conditions for motorists by re-establishing a smooth transition from the state Rt. 4 roadway to the concrete and steel bridge structure.
As schedule, all work will take place between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.ย A single lane closure may be necessary and a flagging operation will be in place both nights to help guide motorists through the work zone.ย Motorists will be alerted to the upcoming resurfacing work through the placement of variable message signs near both ends of the bridge on Dec. 1.
