LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The Leonardtown High School Raiders’ On Stage Endeavors (R.O.S.E.) Players are bringing romance, comedy, and theatrical charm to the stage this December with their upcoming production of Shakespeare in Love.
Set in 1590s London, “Shakespeare in Love” follows a young William Shakespeare struggling with writer’s block—until he meets Viola, a noblewoman who disguises herself as a man to pursue her dream of acting. Their secret romance sparks the creation of Romeo and Juliet, blending passion, mistaken identity, and theatrical chaos in a witty, heartfelt tribute to love and the stage.
The play, adapted for the stage by Lee Hall and based on the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard, will run for four performances:
- Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
- Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
Performances will take place at Leonardtown High School, located at 23995 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.

Cash will not be accepted at the door, and tickets cannot be printed. Attendees must present tickets on a mobile device at the venue.
Shakespeare in Love: The Play features music by Paddy Cunneen and was originally produced on the West End by Disney Theatrical Productions and Sonia Friedman Productions, directed by Declan Donnellan and designed by Nick Ormerod.
