Waldorf, MD – Southern Maryland fell to the Camden Riversharks Sunday afternoon, June 14 at Regency Furniture Stadium by the final of 9-5 to take the final game of the four game set this weekend.
For the second straight game, Camden got on the board first scoring a run in the top of the first on a Carlos Guzman RBI Single to make it 1-0.ย In the bottom of the second with a Craig Maddox opposite field homerun cleared the wall in left field to make it 2-1.ย In the bottom of the third after a Casey Stevenson single to right, Zach Wilson drove him in with an RBI double to make it 3-1.
Camden retook the lead, scoring four runs on five hits in the top of the fourth.ย Ryan Strieby and Paddy Matera both singled and that was followed by a Daniel Rockett RBI Double to left field to score Strieby.ย The next hitter Norberto Susini cleared the bases with an RBI double scoring Matera and Rockett to make 4-3.ย Michael Rockett followed with a double to score Susini to make it a 5-3 and chase starter Brian Grening out of the ballgame.
Sean Gleason picked up the win, going six innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits, and striking out one.ย Guzman, Strieby, Matera, and the Rockett brothers all had two hits apiece.
Southern Maryland will have an off day Monday, and then hit the road for a seven-game trip starting first in York on Tuesday night, June 16 against the Revolution.ย The first pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
