The incidence of crime in Calvert County increased by 6.5% in 2010, however, it is important to note that violent crimes of rape, robbery and murder decreased by 23% in 2010 as compared to 2009.
Crimes such as thefts and burglaries, however, continued their slight rise in keeping with recent years, with an increase of 10.5% over 2009.
The primary mission of the Sheriff’s Office is to protect the citizens of Calvert County and our focus remains on reducing the occurrence of violent crime. At the same time, we are asking the public’s assistance in reducing property crime by locking up their valuables, homes, sheds, and vehicles.
