Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Newburg Elks Lodge located at 12445 Rock Point Road at 1:44 a.m., Saturday, for the report of a shooting.

Officers found two men suffering gunshot wounds at the scene. Michael Lamont Beverly, 33 of Waldorf, was transported to Prince George’s Trauma Center where he died a short time after arrival.

The second victim, a 24 year-old-man from Newburg, was transported to a hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed the victims were in the parking lot of the business when they began arguing with the suspect, Terrell Lamont Thompson, 35 of Waldorf. Thompson produced a handgun and shot both victims. He then fled in a blue, four door sedan.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Thompson, who has not been located. He is to be charged with second degree murder.

Thompson is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs approximately 205 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
