Shoplifter Arrested for Theft of Steaks at Local Grocery Store

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case of theft at a local Food Lion.

Deputies responded to report of a theft in progress on Feb. 7 at the Food Lion in California located at 16056 Three Notch Road.

Upon arrival contact was made with the security manager who advised, Gregory M. Veney, 45 of Lexington Park, had exited the store with eight steaks from the meat department in his possession. The stolen steaks were located in the vehicle Veney was driving.

Veney was arrested for the theft of the steaks and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
