On June 8 at 8:20 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the CVS Pharmacy at 3075 Marshall Hall Road in Bryans Road for the report of a theft.
Investigation revealed Juan Dana Newby, 39, of Washington, D.C., concealed skin and hair products in his pants. When Newby was confronted by a 49-year-old female employee, he pushed her and fled the store.
He was found by officers a short time later in the wooded area near the store. Newby was arrested and found to be in possession of cocaine.
He was charged with theft less than $500, second-degree assault and possession of cocaine and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer M. Smith investigated.
