On May 30, at approximately 2:40 a.m., St. Mary’s County Corporal Moritz initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle on Route 235 in Lexington Park.
Henry Clay Hinson, 23 of Great Mills, was the passenger in the vehicle. While talking to the driver and Hinson Cpl. Moritz noticed what appeared to be the pistol grip of a shotgun protruding from underneath of Hinson’s seat. Cpl. Moritz believed a shotgun was concealed under the seat so a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Cpl. Moritz discovered the pistol grip was attached to a machete with a blade length of approximately 14 inches. Further investigation revealed Hinson was the owner of the machete.
Hinson was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed dangerous weapon.
