California, MD – March 8th., Sideline Bluegrass band makes a first time visit at the 5th concert of the American Legion Bluegrass series along with the local Americana trio, 15 Strings. The concert will be held on Sunday April 2 at the American Legion Post 238 on the corner of MD Rt. 381 & MD RT. 231 in Hughesville, MD.
What’s in a name? Some (well, Mr. Webster in fact) might suggest that the name “sideline” means “an activity done in addition to one’s main job”. Alternately, many people think it’s “the section of a football field just to the side of where the main action happens”. But for this band, it is “an additional activity for the guys who stand to the side of the stage in their “regular” bands”. But when they get together, Sideline is all front and center, main stage Bluegrass.
Sideline – a name that symbolizes great, traditional Bluegrass presented by music veterans, who after venturing out on their own, have made their mark as one of the most sought after bands in the genre. Sideline plays songs you love. Some are bluegrass classics, some are destined to be classics, and all of them are performed in a way that makes audiences understand why these pickers and singers are ‘A’ tier band.
Their fan base is growing, their music has consistently topped charts, and their touring schedule is packed! In promotion of their third offering on Mountain Fever Records, “Colors & Crossroads”, Sideline set out on a western states tour in November, 2016 playing sold out venues in Arizona, California, and Las Vegas. The band members are: Steve Dilling on banjo and guitar (formerly from Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out), Skip Cherryholms plays guitar (formerly from the Cherryholmes Family band), Troy Boone is on mandolin, Nathan Aldridge plays fiddle, Brad Hudson on dobro (formerly with Dolly Parton), and Jason Moore, the most sought out studio musician plays the bass (formerly from James King Band and Mountain Heart).
“Colors & Crossroads” will no doubt help the six-member group continue their forward trajectory. For more information on Sideline, please visit their website, www.sidelinebg.com.
Joining them on the American Legion concert will be 15 Strings, an acoustic trio offering music across many genres including Bluegrass and Americana.
