On Tuesday, November 01, 2011, at approximately 12:40 pm there was a single vehicle accident where the two individuals in the car were ejected from vehicle. All signs show that the vehicle rolled over at least one or more times.
The Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance (Co. 6) responded to the call along with an ambulance from Dunkirk (Co.5). The paramedic (Co.10) was on the call as well. Chief Riffe (Co. 6) was the officer in command.
Both of the individuals that were in the car and ejected were in serious condition and the helicopter was requested to transport to trauma hospital. It was decided that because both of the individuals’ conditions, the best option was to land the helicopter right at the accident site. The traffic in the northbound lanes had already been stopped, but during the landing and while the helicopter was on the ground, the southbound lanes also had to be closed as well.
The traffic started moving in both directions about 45 minutes after the call came out.
