
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Women’s Tennis Team (1-3) competed in their third and final match of the PTR Spring Tennis Fest with a matchup against the Maryville College Scots (5-5). The Seahawks dropped the contest to the Scots, 8-1.
How It Happened:
Doubles
- Cleopatra Solomon and Amber Manspeaker dropped in the first doubles match by a score of 8-1.
- Giselle Harris and Lauren Lovejoy fell in the number two doubles match by a final score of 8-1.
- Blessing Samuel and Melak Armstrong came up short in the number three doubles match by a final score of 8-3.
Singles
- Cleopatra Solomon earned the lone victory for the Seahawks with an emphatic 6-1, 6-0 win in the number one singles contest,
- Amber Manspeaker dropped both sets of the number two singles match by scores of 6-1 and 6-4.
- Giselle Harris represented the Seahawks in the number three singles match. Harris dropped the first set 6-3 and the second set 6-1.
- Lauren Lovejoy came up short in the number four singles match. Lovejoy lost the first set 6-3 and the second 6-0.
- Melak Armstrong dropped the number five singles match in two sets, falling 6-2 and then 6-1.
- Blessing Samuel wrapped things up for the Seahawks in the number six singles match. Samuel dropped the first set in heartbreaking fashion, falling 7-4 in a tiebreaker. Samuel went on to fall in the second set, 6-4.
