LEONARDTOWN, Md. — St. Mary’s County Public Schools will offer families and high school students an opportunity to learn more about Advanced Placement (AP) and dual enrollment programs during an informational session Tuesday evening.
The AP & Dual Enrollment Information Night will take place Jan. 20, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center, located at 24005 Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown.
The event is designed for prospective and current high school students, along with parents and guardians, to explore academic options that allow students to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school.
Advanced Placement courses provide students with college-level instruction and the opportunity to earn college credit by successfully completing AP exams. Dual enrollment allows eligible students to take approved college courses that count toward both high school graduation and college transcripts through partnerships with Maryland institutions, including the College of Southern Maryland.
St. Mary’s County Public Schools offers a wide selection of AP courses across subject areas such as English, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages and the arts. Dual enrollment options are generally available to juniors and seniors who meet academic and college readiness requirements.
During the information night, school officials will explain eligibility requirements, course expectations, potential cost savings, and how participation in AP and dual enrollment programs can strengthen college and career readiness. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and speak with staff.
Registration for the event is available online at https://bit.ly/APDual2026.
St. Mary’s County Public Schools will also host the Forrest Center Tech Expo on Jan. 22, offering students and families an additional opportunity to explore career and technical education programs available through the district.
St. Mary’s County Public Schools serves more than 17,000 students across Southern Maryland and offers a variety of academic, technical and career pathways designed to prepare students for post-secondary success.
