Mechanicsville, MD –September 2019– Drs. Gina McCray and Kara McCray Demer have a lot of adults and children beaming, but for more reasons than you might think. Over the last several months, they provided reduced-cost teeth whitening services to patients and donated 100 percent of the proceeds to children living with disabilities, serious illness, lack of medical care or decreased educational opportunities. This is all thanks to the Crown Council’s annual Smiles for Life campaign.
The Crown Council is an alliance of dedicated dentists throughout North America who are committed to excellence in their practice, to continuing education, and to promoting oral health. To help achieve these goals, they established the Smiles For Life Foundation in 1998. Since its creation, the organization has raised over $40 million for children in underserved communities, and that number continues to grow.
As in previous years, Ultradent Products donated a range of Opalescence whitening products to the campaign. Smiles For Life also maintains a strong longtime partnership with the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation supporting Child Life Zones in Children’s Hospitals across the United States
“This year’s effort was a great success, and we want to thank everyone in the community who participated by purchasing whitening services from us during the campaign. We also appreciate Ultradent Products, Inc.’s generous donation of all teeth whitening materials,” says Dr. McCray, a Crown Council dentist located in Mechanicsville, MD. “While it’s rewarding to see the beautiful smiles of our patients after their teeth are whitened – it is even more fulfilling to see the smiles of the children whose lives are changed by these contributions.”
St. Mary’s Dental is honored to have participated in this yearly event held by the Smiles For Life Foundation. During the four-month campaign, St. Mary’s Dental raised $11,264.00 for kids. Half of these funds were contributed to The Dream Queen Foundation, a local 501c3 non profit in Southern Maryland, whose mission is to offer a safe space where women and teen girls can come together to support one another and celebrate their dreams. The other half was contributed to international humanitarian initiatives in over 500 various Crown Council-approved children’s charities worldwide. These worthy organizations help kids with an emphasis on improving health, education and inner-city programs.
