Charles County, MD – Forecasters are expecting snow and a wintry mix to begin in Charles County starting after midnight tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) is currently forecasting approximately a half foot of snow in central and northern Maryland. Locally, NWS expects Charles County will likely receive less than 1 inch of snow, along with rain, and the potential for a maximum of 4-5 inches of snow in northern portions of the county. Even with some uncertainty in the forecast, it is increasingly likely that Tuesday morningโ€™s commute could be slippery, slow, and dangerous.

โ€œAnother winter storm system with the potential to cause snow accumulation in our area is headed our way,โ€ said William Stephens, director of the Department of Emergency Services. โ€œI encourage motorists to use caution when driving Tuesday morning, and allow extra time to reach your destination. If you donโ€™t have to drive during the morning hours, please stay at home. This will allow road crews to treat and clear roads as quickly as possible.โ€

According to the National Weather Service, the location of the rain-snow line is unclear. This will dictate which areas of Maryland receive snow, rain, or a wintry mix.

Charles County residents should consider taking the following actions prior to any winter storm:
