Charles County, MD – Forecasters are expecting snow and a wintry mix to begin in Charles County starting after midnight tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) is currently forecasting approximately a half foot of snow in central and northern Maryland. Locally, NWS expects Charles County will likely receive less than 1 inch of snow, along with rain, and the potential for a maximum of 4-5 inches of snow in northern portions of the county. Even with some uncertainty in the forecast, it is increasingly likely that Tuesday morningโs commute could be slippery, slow, and dangerous.
โAnother winter storm system with the potential to cause snow accumulation in our area is headed our way,โ said William Stephens, director of the Department of Emergency Services. โI encourage motorists to use caution when driving Tuesday morning, and allow extra time to reach your destination. If you donโt have to drive during the morning hours, please stay at home. This will allow road crews to treat and clear roads as quickly as possible.โ
According to the National Weather Service, the location of the rain-snow line is unclear. This will dictate which areas of Maryland receive snow, rain, or a wintry mix.
Charles County residents should consider taking the following actions prior to any winter storm:
