The 4thย edition of the Solomons Off Shore Grand Prix presented by Bayside Chevrolet is now in the record books. With absolute perfect weather conditions all weekend long, members of both the Maryland Power Boat and Chesapeake Power Boat Association can sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor. With roughly 40 boats and 3 classes to run on Sunday, the event went like clock work with just 1 red flag for a spin out in race #1 slowing down the day. With injuries reported on the Country Auto Service Team Boat at that time, race officials felt it was in the best interest to red flag the event, then call it a complete race with victories well in hand and just a lap or so from the finish. The injuries suffered by the competitors on the boat were non life threatening, with competitors expected to make a complete recovery.

In the meantime, one of the classes on course was that of local favorite Tug It in the Super Vee Lite category. After an early race battle with Typhoon, the Scott Glockner led group forged on for a most popular victory on the island Sunday as they now get ready for the season finale next month in Ocean City. Hereโ€™s a look at some of the other classes winners on Sunday:

Class 600: Wazzup

Super Stock: Lighthouse Racing

Class 700: Molson Muscle

Extreme: Phoenix Parts.com

Class 100: Cleveland Construction

Class 400: Saris Racing

Class 500: Bunkyโ€˜s Charter Boat/Cisco Racing

Class 300: Wazzup II

Turbine: Mary Mac

Solomons Offshore Race Director Mike Yowaiski felt it was the best event they have had in the 4 year history of the race, with next year clearly being even better. In the meantime, all eyes are focused on the World Offshore Championships October 4-6 in Ocean City, Maryland.
