
GREAT MILLS, Md. — The Southern Maryland Eliminators, a small yet transformative travel field hockey club based in St. Mary’s County, has been nominated for the prestigious 2024 USA Field Hockey National Club Award. Online voting is currently open and will close Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
The award is presented to a USA Field Hockey Member Club that has excelled both on and off the field. This honor recognizes clubs that demonstrate exceptional skills on the pitch, as acknowledged by peers and fans, as well as a passion for sportsmanship and community impact off the pitch. Nominees use field hockey to make a meaningful impression on others and create opportunities within their communities.
Founded in 2006, the Eliminators have built a reputation for prioritizing player development and fostering a positive, supportive environment for athletes ranging in age from 8 to 18. The club’s commitment to excellence has shown in its growing success at regional and national competitions.
Beyond competitive play, the Eliminators maintain a strong focus on community outreach and youth engagement through their Recreation League, now in its seventh year. This program introduces young athletes to field hockey fundamentals and has become a cornerstone of the club’s mission.
The Class of 2025 boasts nine players from six different high schools who will continue their athletic careers in college, showcasing the program’s impact on preparing players for the next level.
