Spend An Evening With The Clydesdales At Suttler Post Farm During This Special Event

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Suttler Post Farm is bringing back a fun, family-friendly event that gives guests the chance to meet their Clydesdales.

The event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 4-8 p.m. on the farm, located at 38750 Chaptico Road, Mechanicsville. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department with a community water drive. Admission will be by donation only, and the farm asks all guests to bring a case of bottled water, Gatorade or another sports drink as a donation.

In addition to the Clydesdales, the event will feature food trucks and local vendors. The Clydesdale team and their hitch will be present during the event. No reservations or tickets are required.

“Your generosity will help keep our local firefighters hydrated while they serve our community,” farm representatives wrote on the event webpage.

Suttler Post Farm claims to have the only team of working Clydesdales in Southern Maryland. The Suttler Post hitch is a regular at the St. Mary’s County Fair and participates in private and community events. Locals can also book visits to the farm to engage with and learn about the Clydesdales.

The Suttler Clydesdale team has also delivered the White House Christmas tree. Traditionally, the last leg of the journey is made by horse-drawn carriage, with the Suttler Clydesdales filling that role since 2017.

Outside of Suttler Post Farm, Southern Maryland locals have gathered to see the Budweiser Clydesdales during the Christmas season. Last year, the Budweiser Clydesdales participated in parades in Annapolis and North Beach.
