LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce (SMCCC) celebrated its move to a new location at 21487 Great Mills Road, Suite A, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 4. The event marked a fresh chapter for the organization following the sale of its previous office.
“A great December evening tonight as your St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce celebrated its own Ribbon Cutting,” the Chamber shared in a Facebook post. “Many public officials, community members, business owners, and nonprofits were in attendance to help us celebrate.”

The event featured catering by Even’ Star Farm, bar services by Savvy Sips, and photography by Ron Bailey Photo Productions. A highlight of the evening was longtime Chamber Ambassador Ann Lewis cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
The new location was made possible through the generosity of Wayne Taylor, owner of J.F. Taylor, Inc., who provided the office space.

“Wayne Taylor offered the space that he had in the building that we just did the ribbon cutting on,” said Jimmy Hayden, Chairman of the Board of SMCCC.
Hayden emphasized the Chamber’s role in advocating for the local economy and supporting a wide range of organizations, from small businesses to defense contractors.
“The Chamber of Commerce, we’re advocates for the economy, the economic business in St. Mary’s County. We represent nonprofits, businesses, large and small, defense contractors—all those. We advocate on behalf of them,” he said.

The new location brings logistical and functional benefits, including proximity to Patuxent River Naval Air Station and an expanded conference area.
“It puts us closer to Pax River. Puts us in Lexington Park. We’re right on Great Mills Road now. Good location for a lot of businesses,” Hayden explained. “We have a bigger conference area than what we had. We hosted a CRASE class by the Maryland State Police about a month ago. CRASE is a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event. We plan on doing more things like that for membership benefits.”

Hayden expressed gratitude for the community’s support and Wayne Taylor’s contribution, noting the Chamber’s enthusiasm for the opportunities the new space provides.
“We’d just like to thank Wayne Taylor for offering us the space and providing the space for us,” Hayden said.
The Chamber looks forward to continuing its work in strengthening the local economy and serving its members from its new home in Lexington Park.
