Charles โ€œChipโ€ Jackson has been named St. Maryโ€™s College of Marylandโ€™s vice president for business and finance. Currently serving as the collegeโ€™s associate vice president for planning and facilities, Jackson will replace Thomas J. Botzman, who will depart St. Maryโ€™s for the presidency of Misericordia University on July 1.

โ€œI have every confidence in Chipโ€™s abilities as he assumes this important new role in service to St. Maryโ€™s College,โ€ said President Joseph R. Urgo. โ€œI am pleased to have such a qualified candidate within our campus community. Chip and Tom will have the opportunity to work closely together throughout the spring semester to ensure a seamless transition of duties.โ€

As a 26-year employee of St. Maryโ€™s College, Jackson is a well-known figure to the campus, county and state. As associate vice president for planning and facilities, Jackson has led the collegeโ€™s master planning, design and construction efforts. His work has led to multiple awards for architecture and sustainability initiatives. In addition, Jackson has been a leader on a variety of college initiatives including student housing expansion and renewal planning, procurement policy, the Pub, food service planning, the annual Governorโ€™s Cup Yacht Race, and new models for the River Concert Series.

โ€œI’m very honored with this appointment and look forward to the new opportunities it presents to serve the college and its faculty, students and staff,โ€ said Jackson. โ€œAs part of President Urgoโ€™s leadership team, I hope to contribute to the continued advancement of the collegeโ€™s mission as Marylandโ€™s public honors college.โ€

In the role of vice president for business and finance, Jackson will oversee business affairs, facilities planning and operations, human resources, information technology, and government relations.
