LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office handled 1315 Calls for service, including 13 Emergency Petitions from March 18 through March 24, 2024.

Calls for service include requests for police assistance originating from the public as well as self-initiated events made by deputy sheriffs.

The Emergency Petition statute in Maryland enables the prompt evaluation of individuals experiencing a mental health crisis having the potential to harm themselves or others to be taken to an emergency facility to assess the need for immediate treatment.

ARRESTS:

3/18/24 – Lanecia Monet Ford, 24, of Lexington Park, MD, by DFC Zachary Jerew, for First- and Second-Degree Assault.

3/22/24 – Stacy Lynn Moreland, 48, of Lexington Park, MD, by DFC Alexander Wynnyk, for CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis, CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia. Moreland was also arrested on warrants for two counts: Theft of less than $100 and theft of $100 under $1500.

3/24/24 – Robert Lee Driggers, 57, of Lexington Park, MD, by Corporal Adam Smith, for First-Degree Assault of a Division of Corrections Employee and two counts of Assault Second-Degree on a Division of Corrections Employee.

3/24/24 – Lauren Mariel Henry, 41, of California, MD, by DFC Travis Wimberly, for CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia. NO PHOTO AVAILABLE

  1. Has the sorry excuse for a mother who killed her child while driving under the influence been taken into custody? She intentionally drove while impaired. You understand the consequences when making such choices. I pray she wasn’t able to attend any services for the murder she committed. If she was, that’s another slap in the face to him.

  2. Yall need to pay at least half as much attention to local politics as you do to local crime. I mean, if you enjoy being outraged. The scope of impact of her poor decision making was pretty limited by comparison. Not to say that it wasn’t a horrific tragedy, and you’re right, she should be in jail. But I’d like to see this kind of follow up on the commissioner meeting articles. Set aside your desire for vengeance and get involved in your community, we’d all be better for it.
