PARK HALL, Md. — St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks will launch a new adult pottery program next month, offering beginners a hands-on introduction to wheel throwing at Elemnt Ceramics in Park Hall.

The three-week course, Pottery – Beginner Wheel Throw, will run Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m., Jan. 6–26, 2026. Participants will learn foundational techniques including wedging, centering clay on the wheel, and forming cylinders and bowls. The class also covers trimming and glazing to complete finished pieces.

Registration opens Dec. 18, 2025, on the county’s new CivicPlus platform, where residents can now create household accounts and preview the full program catalog ahead of enrollment.
