NEWBURG, Md. – The Maryland State Fire Marshal wants the public’s help in figuring out just who set a vehicle on fire in Newburg on Sunday evening.

Officials say it happened just before 7 pm in the 12800 block of Rock Point Road. An area resident reported the burning 2012 Chrysler 300. The abandoned vehicle was found along a power line access road off Route 257.

It took 20 firefighters from the Newburg Volunteer Fire Department 10 minutes to put out the flames.

The fire marshal says an unknown person or persons intentionally set the inside and outside of the vehicle on fire. The car was a total loss, valued at $6500.
