Leonardtown, MD – Recovery operations continued Monday with 44 contractors supplementing county crews. The St. Mary’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation will return to normal operations on January 26 and continue with touch up work with minimal to no contractor support. Over 100 contractors assisted county crews during the height of the storm.

Mild temperatures have brought about gradual melting. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and be alert for slick spots.

The following is a status report for Tuesday, January 26:
Ø   All St. Mary’s County Administrative Offices will open at their normal time. The weekly Commissioners of St. Mary’s County business meeting will take place at 9 a.m. The reception for members of Boards, Commissions and Committees will be held at 8:30 a.m. in the  lobby of the Chesapeake Building in Leonardtown

Ø  All St. Mary’s County Public Schools will be closed for students. Code 2 for employees.

Ø  Non-Public School transportation will not operate

Ø  All Recreation and Parks programs operating in the Public Schools are canceled.

Ø Recreation and Parks facilities will be open except for the Margaret Brent Recreation Center, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum and Wicomico Shores Golf Course which will remain closed. The Great Mills Swimming Pool will open at noon. The Riverview Restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. 

Ø  STS Transit will operate normally

Ø  The six (6) Convenience Centers and St, Andrews Landfill will resume their normal hours

Ø  All three Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler and Northern) will open at 10 a.m.          

Meals will be served at the centers. However, there will be no home delivered meals

Ø  All St. Mary’s County Library locations (Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown and Lexington Park) will be open normal hours

Ø  St. Mary’s County Circuit Courthouse will be open at its normal time

Ø All College of Southern Maryland campuses will remain closed


Ø NAS Pax River will be open with unscheduled leave/telework
