GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A Baltimore man was arrested Tuesday, January 20, 2026, after police located a stolen vehicle in Glen Burnie and recovered nearly 20 grams of suspected fentanyl along with stolen property.
Detectives with the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Eastern District Strategic Patrol Team were alerted by an automated license plate reader around 11:30 a.m. to a stolen red Hyundai Tucson in the 500 block of East Ordnance Road. Investigators located the vehicle and watched as the driver exited the Hyundai and entered a GMC Acadia parked nearby.
The man was taken into custody without incident. Police said he was found in possession of property that had been stolen from the GMC, which was returned to its owner at the scene.
A search of the stolen Hyundai led to the recovery of approximately 19.83 grams of suspected fentanyl and packaging materials, according to police.
Further investigation connected the suspect to two earlier retail thefts in Anne Arundel County. Police said he is accused of stealing merchandise from Kohl’s on Jan. 7 in Severn and from Nordstrom Rack on Jan. 11 in Annapolis.
Jason Thomas Serio, 48, of Baltimore, was charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a large amount of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, felony theft, and several misdemeanor charges.
Serio was scheduled for a bail and bond review hearing Wednesday morning in Annapolis. Court records show a temporary commitment order was also issued due to illness.
