SOLOMONS, Md. — Good news for Independence Day celebrants! After earlier uncertainty due to weather, the Solomons Fourth of July fireworks display is back on for tonight, Sunday, July 5th, weather permitting.

The fireworks are expected to light up the Patuxent River between 8 and 9:15 p.m., giving residents and visitors another chance to celebrate the holiday with a spectacular waterfront display.

Because the decision to move forward was made late in the day, organizers say tonight’s event will be a scaled-back celebration, and attendees should plan accordingly.

What to Expect Tonight

  • 🎆 Fireworks are scheduled between 8 and 9:15 p.m. (weather permitting).
  • 🚫 Glascock Field will be closed and no parking will be available there.
  • 🚗 There will be no parking attendants, so visitors should expect heavier-than-normal traffic and limited parking options.
  • 🎶 Entertainment at the gazebo has been canceled.
  • 🍔 Food and craft vendors will not be on site.

If you’re heading to Solomons, plan ahead and allow extra travel time. Before leaving home, check The BayNet’s live traffic cameras to see current traffic conditions and congestion around Southern Maryland: https://thebaynet.com/traffic-cams/.

Organizers encourage everyone attending to be patient, respectful of the surrounding neighborhoods, and prepared for limited amenities.

As weather conditions can still change, attendees are encouraged to watch for updates throughout the evening before heading out.

If you’re planning to celebrate in Solomons, arrive early, drive safely, and enjoy a festive Fourth of July with the community.
