CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a man in connection with the domestic-related murder of his former girlfriend. The suspect is 31-year-old Terrence Penn Jr. of Temple Hills. He is charged with the murder of 31-year-old Dakota Keys of Capitol Heights.
On July 4, 2026, at approximately 10:10 pm, officers responded to the 1900 block of Brooks Drive for the report of a shooting. Officers located the victim inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound(s). She was pronounced dead on the scene.
After the shooting the suspect fled the scene and then turned himself into police a short time later.
Penn Jr. is charged with first- and second-degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
