Whether you’re searching for a new hobby, planning a family day out or simply looking to enjoy everything Southern Maryland has to offer, Recreation & Parks has a full lineup of activities throughout July and beyond.
Celebrate Park and Recreation Month

July is officially Park and Recreation Month, and St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks is celebrating the important role parks play in bringing communities together through recreation, nature, wellness and play.
Residents are also encouraged to share their ideas as the department continues developing its five-year Master Plan. Community feedback will help shape future parks, programs and recreational opportunities throughout the county.
Fun Friday Returns July 10

Families can kick off the weekend at the Fun Friday Open House on Friday, July 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Leonard Hall Recreation Center.
The free event features:
- Lawn games
- Raffle prizes
- Information about upcoming Recreation & Parks programs
- A chance to meet staff and explore community offerings
Visitors can also stick around afterward for the popular Friday Summer Skate from 1 to 4 p.m.
“Frozen” Comes to Great Mills High School

Disney fans won’t want to miss Summerstock’s production of Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical.
Performances run:
- July 17-19
- July 24-26
Tickets are:
- $15 for ages 11 and older
- $9 for children 10 and younger
Advance ticket purchases are recommended as performances are expected to sell out.
Friday Summer Skate Continues

Roll into summer during themed skating sessions at Leonard Hall Recreation Center.
The next skate, “Winter in July,” takes place Friday, July 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. in celebration of Frozen: The Broadway Musical.
Admission is $5, with skate rentals available for $2.50. Skaters of all ages and skill levels are welcome.
Stretch, Relax and Recharge

Adults looking to improve flexibility and overall wellness can sign up for Adult Flexibility Classes at the Gymnastics Academy.
Classes are held:
- Monday evenings
- Wednesday evenings
- 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Participants may register for a single session or multiple classes, with pricing starting at just $15.
Plan Ahead for Ocean City

Leave the driving to someone else during the Ocean City Bus Trip on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Participants will travel by charter bus to enjoy SunFest and spend the day exploring Ocean City before returning home that evening.
Recreation & Parks Is Hiring

Looking for a rewarding career?
St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks is currently accepting applications for an Aquatics & Wellness Coordinator through July 22.
The department is seeking an experienced professional to lead aquatics, wellness and health programming while helping expand recreational opportunities for county residents.
