
St. Mary’s County Science Fair Board Presidnet Al Hovland poses with senior grand prize winners James Kelly and Allyson Myers
Great Mills, MD — The ideas of great young minds filled the cafeteria of Great Mill High School on Saturday, Feb. 7. The occasion was the 55th annual St. Maryโs County Science Fair. The competition was divided into 17 categories in two divisions, junior for middle schoolers and senior for high school students.
Junior Grand Prize winners were Adam Lindholm (for Curious Crests) and Ryan Williams (for Kinnect Controlled Robotic Arm). Both attend Spring Ridge M.S.
Senior Grand Prize winners were Allyson Myers (for Wind Turbines: the Deadly Truth) and Jason Kelly (for Depth Sensing Aid for the Blind). Both students attend Great Mills High School.
Winners of the local science fair can go on to compete in regional competition in Prince Georgeโs County, with the chance to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh in May.
