Those looking for fun activities without having to travel too far from home this Memorial Day weekend need go no farther than Chesapeake Beach. A number of locations are launching summer on Thursday, May 27 and continuing all the way through the weekend culminating on Memorial Day.
There is something for everyone including a little history at the Railway Museum to the launch of a free summer concert series. These venues also have not forgotten the reason we celebrate Memorial Day. During the weekend, not only are the veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice being honored, but those currently serving may make a reservation for a free meal as way of saying thanks for their service to our country.

The Boardwalk Café is introducing its Absolute Crush Bar where patrons can meet with Malibu Rum Models and enjoy free samples from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
Over at Smokey Joe’s Thursday at 8 p.m. there is a comedy night featuring the hilarious Big Al Goodwin and Mike Way with MC Julie Fox.
The fun continues on Friday, when the Boardwalk Café holds a season grand opening party from 6 until 10 p.m. with Unlimited DJ Productions and Dancing on the Beach. There patrons can meet the Bicardi Rum Models and enjoy tasty Mojito samples and win some pretty cool stuff in the process.
Then beginning on Saturday, May 29 through the weekend, there is even more good times at the Rod’ N’ Reel where hungry people can enjoy an amazing breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to Noon.
On Saturday, after a day at the beach, Karaoke singers can strut their stuff at 9 p.m. at Smokey Joe’s, preceded by Sam ‘O & JFC Live at the Café from 5 to 9 p.m.
On Sunday after breakfast at the Rod’ N’ Reel, from 4 to 8 p.m. the facility launches its free Summer Concert Series with classic hits with Out of Order. The concert series continues each Sunday throughout the summer.
