Solomons, MD ย – The BayNet.com thanks reader Phil Yunger for sending us pictures of a dolphin sighting in the Patuxent River over the weekend. Yunger reported that he saw the pod of dolphins north of the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge Sunday, Aug. 20 around noon. He said about 30 or 40 of the creatures were headed north in the river.
โVery cool,โ Yunger remarked.

A Baltimore television station reported earlier this summer that Maryland and Virginia researchers were conducting the first-ever comprehensive study of bottlenose dolphins in the Chesapeake Bay. The TV stationโs online report quotes a research professor at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science in Solomons, who stated there may well be over 1,000 dolphins on the move in the Chesapeake Bay at its tributaries.
