HOLLYWOOD, Md. – Historic Sotterley invites the community to gather under painted skies for Sunset at Sotterley, an unforgettable evening celebrating beauty, history, and impact at one of Maryland’s most treasured National Historic Landmarks. Guests will enjoy sweeping sunset views, magical entertainment, unique auction items and experiences, and a memorable dinner inside the beautiful Barns of Sotterley event space, all in support of Sotterley’s vital educational mission.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early in their best garden party chic attire to take advantage of a special portrait session in the stunning Colonial Revival Gardens. Portraits will be offered from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., capturing the elegance of the evening amid one of Sotterley’s most iconic landscapes.
This year proceeds from Sunset at Sotterley will support one of Historic Sotterley’s most important endeavors: Educational Programming. From school field trips to curated events, Sotterley’s educational programs reach thousands of students, families, and community members, but demand continues to grow. In 2026, we have already outpaced our field trip rate for the last several years. Schools are seeking meaningful, local learning experiences, families are looking for educational opportunities outside of the classroom, and community members are searching to connect with local history.
To meet these needs, we need your help. Your support today will allow us to buy more field trip supplies, plan additional hands-on education events for families, and sustain the programs that make Sotterley a trusted educational partner in Southern Maryland.
