On Nov. 16, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers arrested Eugene Abebe Jackson, 29 of Washington, D.C., in connection with the murder of Victor Simon Taylor, 24, who was shot at Mattawoman Seafood on Nov. 7.

Investigation revealed Taylor approached Jackson and another person in the parking lot with the intent to rob Jackson of drugs and money. The two argued and Jackson pulled a gun and fired several rounds, striking Taylor in the upper body. A stray round went through the back of a parked vehicle, striking a man who was sitting inside the car; he was not involved in the argument nor was he affiliated with any of the involved parties. Jackson and his friend fled the scene.

Acquaintances of Taylor transported him to Ft. Washington Hospital Center where he died a short time later. The injured man was transported to a hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Jackson was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.ย
