On Friday, St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics Division detectives began to investigate a complaint of drug activity at a California hotel.
The investigation revealed John Columbus Courtney, 37, of Steven Young Ct, Leonardtown, was dealing cocaine from a rented hotel room and in the outside parking lot.
A Search and Seizure Warrant was executed on the hotel room and suspect’s person. More than $1,500 worth of “Crack” cocaine, nearly $300 in cash and a police scanner were recovered.
Courtney is being held without bond in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics Division is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on Sept. 1, 2007.
